🍩 Homemade Donuts Recipe | Glazed, Chocolate & Filled (Baked or Fried)
There’s nothing like a warm, fluffy donut made right in your own kitchen! Whether you like them glazed, filled with jam or cream, or dipped in chocolate, these homemade donuts are easy to make and absolutely delicious. Bonus: You can either fry them the classic way or bake them for a lighter twist!
📝 Ingredients
For the Dough:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 ¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
¾ cup warm milk
¼ cup melted butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extractFor Frying (if using):
Oil for deep frying
For Baking (optional):1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for brushing)
🍯 Glaze Options:
Classic Sugar Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk½ tsp vanilla essence
½ cup dark or milk chocolate
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp cream or milk
Jam or Cream Filling:
Your favorite jam, custard, or whipped cream
Piping bag (optional)

Step 1: Make the Dough
Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Add egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix well.
Gradually add flour and salt. Knead until a soft dough forms (10 minutes).
Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Shape the Donuts
Roll out the dough to ½ inch thickness.
Cut with a donut cutter or two round lids (one large, one small for the center).
Place on a tray, cover, and let them rest for 20–30 minutes.
Step 3: Fry or Bake
For Fried Donuts:
Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry donuts on medium heat until golden on both sides.
Drain on paper towels.
For Baked Donuts:
Brush with egg-milk wash. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden.
Step 4: Glaze & Fill
Dip warm donuts into glaze or chocolate. Let them set on a rack.
For filled donuts:
Use a piping bag to inject jam or cream into the center.
